It is highly recommended that clients coordinate with one of our preferred caterers. The use of a non-preferred caterer incurs a $1,000 buyout fee and will increase the security deposit to $1,500. All Chabot caterers are well-versed in our policies and procedures, and are fully insured and licensed by the city and state. The caterer provides all personnel and equipment required for preparation of food and beverage, handles rental orders for tables, linens, dishware, etc., and is responsible for setup/ breakdown within Chabot’s rental agreements.

Health & Safety

Masks Optional Masks are optional for all Chabot Space & Science Center visitors, regardless of vaccination status. Visitors are encouraged to wear masks for personal health and comfort. Wash Your Hands After hands-on exhibits or eating, wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer is readily available near all galleries, theaters, labs and classrooms.

Transportation

Parking on premise

Free parking is readily available in the 3-floor garage across from the Center.

Furniture

We have a limited amount of casual furniture in some venues or some additional tabling available for rental. Formal dining furniture is typically ordered by the Caterer. Preferred Caterers are all full-service vendors and can provide tables, chairs, linen, dinnerware, and glassware. We can also refer you to a rental company if you would like to handle these needs.

Cancellations

If a booking is canceled in writing 150+ days prior to the event, 100% of the deposit minus a $600 processing fee will be returned; 90–150 days prior to the event 50% of the deposit will be returned. Cancellations received less than 90 days in advance do not qualify for a refund.

Cleaning and Trash Removal

The client is responsible for the set-up and removal of all equipment used for their event, although this is typically handled by the caterer. All Chabot Preferred Caterers will take care of any food service cleanup during and after the event, including all rental equipment such as table, chairs, flatware, glassware, etc.
