In 2019, Woolly Mammoth Theatre celebrated their company’s 40th Birthday at their annual Dinner on Stage Fundraiser! The decor for the evening was playful, campy and exaggerated. Through the use of bright colors, large balloons and birthday cakes, guests were fully immersed into an over the top birthday experience. This year the theme was “birthday” but we also wanted to celebrate Woolly’s recent renovations to their new lobby space. The evening started off with guests gathering in the lower lobby for cocktails and appetizers. Then guests moved backstage to the Scene Shop for more cocktails and a performance from the play Mr. Burns. Following the pop up scene, guests then explored the costume shop, prop shop, green room, and dressing rooms. Following cocktails all guests were then ushered into the theatre for the grand reveal, Dinner on Stage! This year the stage was built out far into the house to accommodate the large number of guests who attended. In keeping with the whimsical feel, we went a non-traditional route using both square and circular tables which helped to juxtapose the balloons floating over head. As dinner progressed, guests were treated to a final performance by Obie Award winning composer and performer Heather Christian on beautiful grand piano. After dinner, in true birthday party fashion, the evening continued with an after-party where each guest could make their own waffle pop or help themselves to any of the delicious treats for dessert.
