From Lumen & Forge
In collaboration with Inspira Marketing, Lumen & Forge created a deep sea world at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA. Upon entering, guests were immersed in projection mapped visuals and breathtaking soundscapes, recreating the experience of being under water. The goal for the Beneath The Blue immersive exhibit was to create a virtual underwater world, bringing attention to environmental issues, such as ocean pollution and wildlife endangerment. National Geographic tasked us with everything from structure design and content production to curating the show’s featured local artists. From the San Francisco Bay area, Joel Dean Stockdill and Yustina Salnikova produced sculptures of marine animals crafted from recycled plastics and steel. Stunning sculptures depicted including sea otters, Maui dolphins, reef manta rays, green sea turtles and jellyfish. Portland sculptor Richard Cawley then added Coral elements made from recycled plastics single use plastics. In total, some 8,400 recognizable pieces (straws, netting, clamshell containers and take out boxes) of reclaimed plastic and metals were used to create the sculptures, educating guests about the environmental impact of single use plastics. Lumen & Forge provided full turnkey production. Services included venue management, exhibit layout design, equipment rentals, production team management and AV technical services.
