Overview
From Chocotastery
Join Chocotastery and Zora Chocolate as we guide you through a Ghanian chocolate journey to Suhum, Ghana! During this virtual trip we will learn about and explore the exceptional Ghanian fine flavor cocoa grown by over 900 cocoa farmers. We will meet the General Manager of the Aponoapono Biakoye Organic Cocoa Farmer’ Association Cooperative (aka ABOCFA), Stephen Ashia. We will hear about the ABOCFA Cooperative, the work they do and the impact they are having on educating cocoa farmers on best practices for post harvest processing in Suhum. We will also meet and discover various interpretations of these beans from four US craft chocolate makers: Fresco Chocolate, Moka Origins, Lumineux Chocolate and Zora Chocolate Company. In addition, our co-host of this event, Fatima Zohra Hakam (aka FZ), founder of Zora Chocolate Company, will be sharing a bit about their bean to bar journey as they start up their own bean to bar chocolate company. Their mission is quite unique and FZ will share a bit more about their crowdfunding campaign and their partnership with non-profit, Cocoa360, that for every chocolate bar sold, they will fund one academic school day for a student at the Tarkwa Breeman Girl’s School. We will then go through a guided chocolate tasting led by Glenn Petriello of Chocotastery to compare and contract these bars and further appreciate the unique characteristics of each while paying homage to the Ghanian farmers and their beans.
