Kevin Abstract – #THE1999

Kevin Abstract, from the rap group Brockhampton, had a vision to walk on a treadmill for 10 hours in front of his childhood home. If you’re asking why, it’s complicated. By the time the first tweet was mentioned, Kevin was already walking, and the live stream had started. Shot on Alexa Mini’s and a mounted Blackmagic 6K camera with anamorphic lenses, the stream had more of a 10 hour feature, than it did a livestream. In collaboration with director Alex Mallis, we produced quite possibly the best looking live stream on the internet. Kevin Abstract’s name and new album gained a ton of PR from media outlets, press, (yes, he trended on twitter) and most importantly, his fans. Over the entire span of the livestream, we captured the personification of what it’s like to be a rap icon, the struggle of the journey with your past always behind you, and the complexly beautiful relationship that resides between an artist and his fans.
