The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is the longest-running major street race in North America. It started as a Formula 5000 race in 1975 and transitioned to a Formula One race in 1976. Despite the rise in popularity of turbocharged engines in Formula One during that time, the Long Beach Grand Prix from 1977 to 1983 never saw a turbo-powered car win.
