About

Built on the side of the mythical rock of Monaco, the Oceanographic Museum has watched over the oceans for more than a century. Created by Prince Albert I, great-grandfather of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, it was designed from the outset as a Palace entirely dedicated to Art and Science. From the ornamentation of the facades to that of the rooms, everything in the architecture of the Museum evokes the marine world. Since its inauguration in 1910, this Temple of the Sea has been a reference to the international level. A place of exchange, culture and debate around the protection of the oceans. Culminating at 85 meters above the Mediterranean, it raises awareness and offers a dazzling discovery of more than 6,000 specimens from all the oceans .
